Is he being friendly or does he like me?

theres this guy and we were friends last year after i had him for homeroom,and this year i started noticing him as more than a friend. i got my friend to suggest that he ask me to a dance..and he asked who i was going with apparently and for the next dance he probably will. He always comes in to my homeroom this year and sits next to me and is playful and talks to me only...but not like overly flirty. I casually gave him my number and he started texting me and wanting to know me more..he always tells me high when he sees me and makes eye contact. the thing is he's pretty outgoing with other people and mean to them in a kidding way..so i can't tell if he's just wanting to be friends or is interested in me and wants something more..he pretty much knows i like him..but he hasnt heard it from anyone or me say it. ahh!
