Is standard of living better in temperate countries than in equatorial countries?

even though equatorial countries can use their climate to their advantage (for tourism, mining, research and astrology) their standard of living is very much put to a disadvantage because they are unable to provide for a person's basic needs (access to water, technology and sanitation). This therefore means that the country's efforts to provide a better standard of living resort to unfavourable answers (such as asking for other countries' help) and so they end up in a big spiral that they cannot get out of. I would say that the standard of living is largely better in temperate countries that equatorial ones.
