The Kentucky Derby?

Well my hubby is a certified Kentucky Col. (This is his first derby with the official title), but we live in Michigan and can't make it down for the Derby. I want to suprise him by taking him to a nearby track and watch the derby. Do you think it would be stupid if we still get kindof dressed up, just to have fun with it? Big hat for me & a snazzy suit for him? After all we are just going somewhere to watch it? Just wondering
